A Clarence Classic Returns
During the off-season the club's board voted unanimously for the 2022 playing uniforms to return to the classic all-white look that saw so much success during the club's golden era of premiership glory.
First appearing in the seventies, the all-white strip was worn in the '79, '81 and '84 premierships before becoming a fixture during the run of premierships through the nineties.
With new coach Peter Ryan placing a strong emphasis on recognising the achievements of the teams of the past and instilling in today's players a sense of pride in what they are a part of, the return to the classic strip comes at a perfect time for the club.
We hope you all like the look of the new uniforms as much as we do.
In addition to the playing uniforms, the club has also been fortunate enough to fit the playing group out with 90 new reversible match-grade training uniforms.
This has been made possible by very generous contributions from the Past Players Association and the Golden Roos and it ensures that our gameday uniforms are no longer used outside roster matches - as Coach Ryan stresses, the "V" is special and needs to be earned.
Men's News
We opened the 2022 season with mixed results in the men's program.
In the seniors we went down to a very slick Kingborough side that looks like it could be a genuine contender this season. The game was within reach at three-quarter time but the Tigers pulled away in the final term to run out 32 point winners.
With several of our players out, a lot of young talent on the field and a new game-plan being implemented, there were many areas of the game to be optimistic about and this week's matchup against a suddenly-vulnerable North Launceston looks to be an interesting one.
It was a different story with our U18 and Development teams as both teams recorded solid victories. The scores for both games don't do justice to the dominance of both teams on the day with the U18 team in particular storming out of the gate and controlling play throughout the entire game, posting 24 scoring shots to 9.
Likewise with the Development team, eventually posting a 44-point win after dominating most facets of the match.
A reminder that our first formal home game at Blundstone Arena is April 30 when we host Glenorchy in the Bingley/Linton Cup. The full Seniors and Development fixture can be found here.

Women's News
It was a tough day at the office for our women's team against a North Hobart team that put on a clinic in the second half.
After a strange first quarter that ended 0-0, the game was evenly poised at halftime but the wheels fell off for us after halftime as the Demons dominated both on the ground and in the air, eventually closing the day with a 45-17 victory.
A couple of nasty injuries to Bri McDonald and Morgan Whitney on the day could see them sidelined for a bit while Gemma Blackburn is day-to-day with a troublesome back injury. We wish all the players a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing them back on the park as the season goes along.

The Clubrooms
Since our last edition there has been two Golden Roos lunches with the usual suspects enjoying the fantastic three-course meals provided by club legends Bob and Wendy Joseph. The world we live in at present contributed to a number of apologies for the most recent Golden Roos lunch with some members playing it safe and some having to deal with managing illness but we look forward to seeing numbers swell again as the season progresses.
The Past Players' Association is going to be taking a leading role with match day functions this season and the first one will coincide with the Bingley/Linton Cup on 30 April. The function has been timed to coincide with a book launch by Peter Hudson and the Tasmanian footy legend will be in attendance on the day.
The lunch is sure to be a well sought after ticket and if you are interested in attending we'd invite you to reach out to a member of the Past Players' Association or the club's General Manager for more information.
